Overview
Highly detailed 1:500 scale model of a proposed open-cut copper mine masterplan, including pit geometry, waste dumps, tailings storage, processing plant, and site infrastructure. Used in the project's environmental approvals presentation.
The Challenge
The model needed to represent 14km² of terrain at 1:500, with enough detail to show the relationship between the pit, waste dumps, water management features, and nearby landowner boundaries. Traditional model-making at this complexity would have taken 4 months.
The Outcome
Delivered in 8 weeks. The model was a pivotal element in the community and regulator consultation process, making the scale and spatial relationships of the development immediately comprehensible. The approval was granted 3 months ahead of the client's original schedule.
