1:50 scale model of a cable-stayed road bridge for a transport authority client, used in a public exhibition and tender evaluation. Structural components produced in PLA-CF for stiffness, cable stays in fine stainless wire.
The Challenge
The bridge model at 1:50 scale measured 1,600mm in total length. The cable stay geometry — 124 individual stays at the correct angle and tension — required a custom rigging approach combining printed cable anchors with fine gauge stainless wire.
The Outcome
Delivered in 7 weeks. The model was exhibited at two public consultation sessions with an estimated 2,400 attendees. It subsequently formed part of the tender evaluation documentation submitted to the transport authority.
