Architectural Facade Panel Prototype
Full-scale prototype of a parametric facade panel at 900mm × 600mm, printed in PETG for UV stability, used for client sign-off before aluminium panel fabrication was commissioned.
Overview
Full-scale prototype of a parametric facade panel at 900mm × 600mm, printed in PETG for UV stability, used for client sign-off before aluminium panel fabrication was commissioned.
The Challenge
The architect needed a full-scale physical sample of the facade panel geometry to present to the building owner and construction team. Rendering and 3D models weren't conveying the depth and shadow profile of the parametric pattern.
The Outcome
Printed in 3 days. The physical panel convinced the building owner to approve the design, and the architect identified two profile adjustments in the physical review that weren't apparent in the 3D model. Saved an estimated $40,000 in post-fabrication panel modifications.
