Playing to strengths
Printing handles complex shapes, internal features and rapid prototypes, while machining delivers precise mating faces, threads and fine finishes. A printed body with a few machined features can be faster and cheaper than forcing either process to do the whole job.
Printed jigs and fixtures also speed up machining and assembly work.
