CNC opens the door to materials that printing cannot touch, including metals and dense engineering plastics. With that choice comes the need to match the material to the job.

Common machining materials

Aluminium is light, strong and machines beautifully, which makes it a favourite for functional parts. Brass and other metals suit specific electrical, decorative or wear applications. Engineering plastics such as acetal offer low friction and good dimensional stability, while timber suits decorative and pattern work.
