Spool Holder
A DIY corner-and-dowel storage system for makers whose filament collection has outgrown the shelf, printed in tough PETG.
Every maker hits the same wall eventually: spools stacked three deep on a shelf, colours buried, the one you need always at the bottom. The Spool Holder solves it with a system built around two things, printed corner brackets and plain wooden dowel rods, so your rack grows exactly as fast as your filament collection does.
The brackets are the whole trick. Each one is an angled wedge with a ribbed grip section where the rod seats, holding the dowel snugly without a single screw or dab of glue. Slide a rod through, press the bracket on, and the joint locks tight enough to carry a full row of spools hanging in the open, colour sorted and ready to load.
Printed in PETG for the strength this job actually needs, the brackets shrug off the repeated clamping and the weight of a shelf full of spools far better than a soft decorative filament would. Standard 25mm wooden dowel, the kind any hardware shop stocks, does the spanning: cut it taller for more levels, wider for more spools, and add another pair of brackets whenever the collection outgrows the current build.
Print two extra brackets, feed on another rod, and your rack expands one level at a time instead of forcing a full rebuild. Printed to order in Australia in your choice of colour, from classic matte black to a deep wine Marsala for a workshop wall that actually looks considered.
