Kaca

A mesmerising ribbed spinning top for fidgety hands and curious desks, 3D printed in durable PLA+.

Give this top a spin and watch its fluted skirt melt into a soft blur of colour, like a flower opening and closing. Kaca pinches from a slender neck at the top down to a fine point at the base, with a ring of vertical ribs fanning out between the two that catches the light differently at every angle. Designed by Martin Zampach, Kaca takes the humble spinning top and gives it real sculptural presence. Rest it upright on your desk and it reads as a small piece of kinetic art. Flick it into a spin and the ribbing does the rest, turning a simple toy into a genuine attention grabber. Each top is 3D printed in PLA+, oriented so the layer lines run with the ribs rather than against them, which gives the fluted skirt a crisp, deliberate texture instead of a flaw to sand away. That same process keeps the weight balanced through the body, which is what actually gives a spinning top a long, steady spin rather than an early wobble. It is equally happy on a desk between meetings, in a kid's toy box, or on a shelf beside other collectible design objects. Printed to order in Australia and left with a raw, straight off the printer finish, so what you see is exactly how it feels in your hand.
