Ice Cream Lock

Some things deserve a moat and a drawbridge, and a tub of good ice cream is one of them. This two-piece puzzle lock stacks around any standard pint tub: a textured brick band clips on first for grip, then a second ring goes on top with a raised maze carved right into its wall. To get to the lid, whoever is raiding the freezer has to trace that maze with a finger from edge to edge before the ring will lift free. It sounds simple until you are standing there at 11pm, sock feet on cold tiles, actually concentrating on a labyrinth just to get a spoonful of dessert. We built ours around a family sized tub and it holds firm without squeezing the tub out of shape, so the ice cream stays exactly as cold and intact as it should. It is a brilliant, ridiculous way to slow down the household ice cream thief, or to hand your partner their tub back with a smug little challenge attached.
