Ghost Lamp

Meet the friendliest ghost on the shelf. By day it is a plain, smooth silhouette with two little arms raised in a wave, sitting quietly on its round black base. Flip the hidden switch and everything changes: warm light floods the hollow shell and two wide eyes and an open, surprised mouth suddenly appear, glowing right through the plastic. The trick is all in the print. We vary the wall thickness from the inside so the face only shows once light is behind it, a technique closer to a lithophane than a painted design. That means no seams, no stickers, no paint to chip, just one clean piece of PLA+ that looks completely different switched off and on. It sits nicely on a nightstand, a shelf, or a windowsill, and works just as well as a everyday night light as it does a Halloween centrepiece. The rounded head and little waving hands give it a cartoon charm that reads more cute than creepy, so it suits kids' rooms as easily as a front porch display.
