OzFDM PPS-CF pairs Polyphenylene Sulfide with carbon fibre to create a filament for the toughest environments a printed part is likely to face. It stays stiff and dimensionally stable through heat, chemicals and mechanical stress, and adds genuine flame resistance on top, a property that sets it apart from most other engineering filaments on the market.

This is a material for mission-critical work: aerospace components that need to perform reliably under extreme conditions, automotive parts exposed to sustained heat, tooling that has to hold its dimensions indefinitely, electronics housings where flame resistance is a real requirement rather than a nice-to-have, and load-bearing assemblies where standard engineering plastics fall short well before PPS-CF would. It tends to come into play precisely where a project has already ruled out standard nylons, PPA and even glass-filled variants on heat, chemical or flammability grounds.

The carbon fibre reduces thermal expansion and sharpens rigidity for precise functional parts, but it also means a hardened nozzle is non-negotiable, since carbon fibre will wear through standard brass quickly. A high-temperature printer capable of sustaining the hot end and enclosure conditions this material needs is essential too - PPS-CF is not a filament to attempt on a stock consumer printer without the right upgrades.

Given how demanding this material is to run correctly, it is worth checking your slicer's recommended profile for PPS-CF specifically rather than adapting settings from a different carbon-fibre filament, since the temperatures and cooling behaviour this chemistry needs differ from PPA-CF or PA-CF blends despite the shared reinforcement.
