Stiff, stable and built for heat

OzFDM PPA-GF is a glass fibre reinforced PPA engineering filament built for parts that have to stay stiff and stable when the heat and the loads climb. The glass fibre content adds serious rigidity and dimensional stability, while the PPA base brings the chemical and heat resistance that demanding functional work calls for, a combination that goes beyond what plain PPA or a glass-filled nylon can offer alone.

It suits structural components that need to hold precise dimensions under load, automotive and aerospace parts that see both heat and mechanical stress, tooling that has to keep performing run after run, and brackets and fixtures in industrial settings - the kind of end-use jobs where ordinary plastics give up well before the part's working life is over. Wherever a design calls for a part that must neither soften under heat nor flex under load, PPA-GF is built to satisfy both requirements at once rather than forcing a compromise between the two.

You will get the best from it on a high-temperature printer fitted with a hardened nozzle, since the glass fibre content is abrasive enough to wear out a standard brass nozzle quickly - treat the hardened nozzle as a requirement rather than an optional upgrade if you intend to run much of this material. Get that setup right and it rewards you with strong layer adhesion and reduced warping, holding its shape through prints that would otherwise curl or delaminate on a lesser material or a less capable printer.

As with other polyphthalamide-based filaments, moisture control matters a great deal here: store the spool sealed with desiccant between prints and dry it before use if it has had any exposure to humid air, since a damp spool will show up immediately as poor surface finish and weaker parts, undermining the very stiffness and dimensional stability this filament is chosen for.
