OzFDM PA6 Nylon is a serious engineering filament for parts that take a beating. It offers excellent temperature and corrosion resistance, strong wear and oil resilience and outstanding mechanical strength, making it ideal for gears, bushings, tooling and functional machine parts that need to survive real-world friction and load rather than just look good on a shelf.
Because plain PA6 combines toughness with a naturally low coefficient of friction, it suits moving parts and wear surfaces particularly well: think interlocking gears, sliding bushings, cable guides, jig components and replacement parts for machinery that would otherwise be machined from engineering plastic stock. Its oil and chemical resistance also makes it a sound choice around workshop and automotive environments where PLA or PETG parts would degrade.
Nylon is hygroscopic, so keep it dry before and during printing for the cleanest results - damp filament tends to string, bubble on the surface and lose mechanical strength, which matters more with a functional material than a decorative one. Store the spool sealed with desiccant when it's not on the printer, and consider a drying step before longer prints if it has been exposed to humid air. It's available in Black and White on a 1KG spool, so you can match parts to an enclosure or leave them raw for a working part.
