Carbon-fibre nylon for structural work
OzFDM PA6-CF is a premium carbon-fibre reinforced Nylon6, produced with LUVOCOM 3F PAHT CF from 85% nylon and 15% carbon fibre. It delivers superb rigidity and heat resistance of up to 200°C, making it a genuine metal-replacement candidate for structural parts that would previously have needed to be machined or cast.
Reach for it on high-stress brackets, mounts and under-bonnet automotive components, as well as jigs, fixtures and tooling inserts that need to resist both vibration and sustained heat. The carbon-fibre loading gives finished parts a stiffness and dimensional stability that plain nylon can't match, so thin-walled brackets stay flat and threaded inserts hold their shape under load rather than deforming over time.
Anneal prints for around 3 hours between 80-100°C to unlock the material's full strength and heat resistance - skipping this step leaves noticeable performance on the table for a fibre-filled engineering nylon like this one. Fit a hardened nozzle before you start, as the abrasive fibre content will wear out a brass nozzle quickly, and store the spool dry since nylon readily absorbs moisture from the air and prints poorly once damp.
- Nozzle temperature: 270-290°C (280°C recommended)
- Bed temperature: 60-90°C (80°C recommended)
- Print speed: 40-60mm/s (50mm/s recommended)
- Heat resistance up to 200°C; 1KG spool
