There is a quiet revolution happening at soldier level. Across modern armies, the kit a soldier carries is increasingly customised at unit level: weapon accessories, comms mounts, NVG harnesses, retention shells and the dozens of small fittings that make personal load carriage work in the field.

Material choices for soldier kit
For soldier kit the material conversation is dominated by glass-fibre and carbon-fibre nylons. PA-GF is the default: tough, dimensionally stable and forgiving of impact and immersion. PA-CF takes over when stiffness or weight matter, while PETG-CF earns its place on items that need higher impact toughness without nylon's moisture sensitivity. ASA covers anything that lives in long UV cycles on a vehicle exterior.

Designing for thumb and glove
Good soldier kit design is built around thumb-and-glove ergonomics. Tactile differentiation between similar parts stops the wrong fitting going on the wrong rail in low light. Generous label surfaces let units mark items with tape, paint pens or laser-engraved IDs. Consistent fastener heads across a soldier's kit mean a single multitool covers everything.
