Print size is one of the biggest limits in 3D printing. Most desktop machines top out around 25 to 30 centimetres, which means larger parts have to be split, printed in pieces and bonded back together. At Global3D we run large-format FDM machines with a build volume up to one metre in every direction, and that single fact opens up a lot of possibilities.
Printing a part in one piece removes seams, glue lines and assembly time, and it usually makes the finished item stronger and more accurate. For anyone working on enclosures, tooling, props or industrial components, scale is often the difference between a workaround and a clean result.
What large format makes possible
Big build volumes suit a surprising range of work. Manufacturing customers print jigs, fixtures and tooling masters that used to be machined from solid blocks. Creative clients print props, signage and display pieces at full size. Engineers print housings and ducting that would otherwise need several bonded sections.
Because the part comes off the bed whole, you avoid the weakest point in any printed assembly, which is the join. That matters most for parts that carry load or need to seal.
Designing for a big bed
Large parts behave differently to small ones. Heat management, warping and print time all scale up, so wall thickness, infill and orientation deserve more thought. We help customers choose settings that keep big prints flat and dimensionally stable across the whole build.
